In a FIDE-Rated Chess Tournament, FIDE Laws of Chess will apply.
All chess players especially new chess players are strongly encouraged to attend the technical briefing before the start of the tournaments to understand the FIDE Laws of Chess.
If 2 illegal moves are being committed by a player. The player will forfeit the game.

Common mistakes made by new players are:
When their king are in check, player did not respond to the check and move another piece instead. This is considered as a illegal move
Illegal castling. This is considered as an illegal move.
Touch Move: if a piece is touched, it must be moved. So if a player touch a piece first, the player needs to move that piece unless there is no legal moves for it. A warning will be given if this action is committed.
Additional information:
There is no need to say “check” when the king is under checked
If you move a piece with your right hand, you need to touch your clock with the same hand
In case of any doubt, just pause the clock and raise your hand and wait for the arbiters to come to you.
Castling starts with the touching of the king first. If the rook is touched first, castling is not allowed and you have to move the rook instead.
If a mobile phone device emits any sound, it is immediate disqualification. Players are advised to switch off their mobile devices or leave their mobile devices outside of the tournament area
